ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - The Great River Trail bike path will be closed to traffic for the Levee Maintenance Riprap Placement Project. This will be just west of the Arsenal Bridge.

Officials with the city of Rock Island say it is expected to begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, June 14.

“This maintenance project is part of the City of Rock Island’s Flood Risk Management System,” officials said in a release. “The path closure is necessary for the safety of the crews performing the improvement as well as the non-motorist traveling public.”

Pending weather, the area should reopen on Monday, June 28.

Officials ask that you follow posted signs for detour directions when needed and watch for trucks that are entering and leaving the area.
