Officials with the sheriff’s office on Wednesday announced the arrests of 41-year-old Amanda Jo Thompson and 38-year-old Mark Anthony Smith, both of Quincy, Illinois.
Police say on June 7 just before 7 p.m., deputies pulled over a vehicle on US Highway 61 for illegal window tint. Officials say the driver was Thompson and the passenger was Smith.
Deputies could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle and asked the passenger to step out of the vehicle according to officials. Shortly after 7 p.m., deputies were informed of a car accident in the 12000 block of 50th Street and the vehicle description matched the previous traffic stop. Deputies responded and say they located Thompson in a field nearby.
Officials say they searched the vehicle and found additional marijuana.
Thompson was taken into custody and is being charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with official acts, no valid driver’s license, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and window tint.
Smith is being charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
